Nor Cal,

You come across some great finds. That's pretty cool!

Just googled it. Scotch and soda coin. Sells for around $13.00. Better than a silver half.
My son loves it. Now I just have to figure out how to do the trick and teach my son.

I've found about a dozen magician coins so far and all have been like the one you've found. Always neat to find. Some are the reverse of a centavos, mostly the obverse like yours

Found this tonight. 1 half in 1 roll and the other halve in another roll.
Is it usual for a magician coin to have the insert part to be 2 different coins with one being a forein coin?
This is the first whole magician coin I have found.
The box was a skunk for silver.

No, thats what they look like. Although, sometimes the "hidden" coin is a British large cent instead of a 20 centavos from Mexico.

If a British large cent was used for the insert , it would have to be cut down in diameter - they are almost identical in diameter as the Half
Dollar . The Mexican 20 centavo coin is just small enough that when the interior of the half is machined out on the lathe - it seems to
be a great fit .

The Scotch and Soda set is one of my favorite pieces of hand magic. Here is a video that shows some of the banter you use to sell the illusion.
