Hey y’all I found this very odd potsherd this Christmas after a heavy rain. It’s an incredibly odd piece and does not match any of the pottery I normally find. It is completely devoid of glaze, yet color remains on it. Almost looks like some Arabic-like script, but that’s coincidental. Would be interested to hear y’alls thoughts. Thanks! 24949CB0-1C42-4BE3-9DDA-C30EFA9AF25F.webpF0962E01-0D25-42CB-9CCC-41B71F245EAD.webp

Hi John, your find looks to be either Native American or possibly naturally occurring sandstone to me? :icon_scratch:

I'm no expert on early Native pottery, so maybe consider re-posting your question here... North American Indian Artifacts

Well it does appear to be a piece of pottery, but the other possibility is a natural pattern of manganese oxide dendrites on a rock.

Thanks for the responses ya'll. May not know its exact age or cultural affiliation, but its always neat to have a few head scratchers.
