Very old Police Whistle

Found this whistle within NYC boundaries, with permission from a nice gentleman with a large yard in Brooklyn. Too cold to dig, but this guy was under a pine tree in insulated ground.

I can read the words POLICE WHISTLE 13 and some other word pieces. I got a decent pic so check it out for yourselves. Any info, of course, is very welcome.

I read an amazing book called Dreamland and it went into the drugs of the 1800's.... Nasty stuff. But I'm sure nothing as potent as the stuff that comes out of today's labs.

I have the whistle soaking so hopefully I can lift more words and get a solid dating. I personally think it's one of my coolest finds being from NYC and knowing it belonged to some old times cop

That is an awesome find. My dad is a retired police officer, he'd love to find something like that.
