🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Very old rust item

Found this item at Fauquier White Springs Spa next to the Rapphanock River. Jackson had camped there as well as Union troops. It is about 4" long, shaped spike like with a hook at the top. Many layers of rust on it. Anyone have an idea what it is. Mini Balls have been found close by.

Looks like a chain spike/anchor. I think they were called heel spikes?
