OK, I dug a lot of holes in three hours and had two prove productive. Not much for all the effort, but I'd do it again. Probably the best weather day for awhile accompanied me on a hunt in a Baltimore City park. First good target was not a coin, but a gold-plated chain and pendant that is really only part of what was lost. I searched the immediate area for any other parts to this oddity but nothing else was found, though I had visions of a gold-plated watch.
Was not hopeful of finding a coin before having to leave but within the last 15 minutes I did get a coin and it turned out to be an 1896 Indian Head cent. There was also a button in the same hole.
This makes at least one Indian in each of my last three consecutive hunts, a mini-streak that will be a challenge to maintain. All of the Indians are dated before 1900.
