I'm currently trying my hand in "trading up" on Craigslist, I started with a 100 dollar guitar, then traded for a 200 dollar metal detector, then traded that for a newer nice condition 15ft canoe AND 100 bucks, lol so I'm looking for my next trade and a guy has an antique Vietnamese sword he got as a kid from a relative who served in Vietnam during the war. Pics are not that great but was wondering if he agrees if this would be a good trade? Or what to look for to tell that it's real?
And I didn't know where else to post this sorry

Probably not real. I picked up a fairly similar sword in Thailand for about $20 several years ago. It's the second sword down in this picture:

Although mine was made as a decorative piece. But the scabbard is almost exactly the same.

You can also see another couple of swords similar to that one listed here:
Pair of Handmade Vietnamese Swords: : Lot 161
They were made in the 1950's as tourist pieces.
