Some seriously old and terrific finds!

Are you pretty sure that figurine is Viking? I came across a similar one in Mongolia, part of Genghis Khan's crew.

The shape of the saddle looks just like figurines from the far east.

In any case, awesome finds. What country did you locate these?

These find are from Norway. The land of the Vikings :-). It would be great if it was a viking trade from Mongolia, i agree with you on the saddle :-)

Yes the Mongols were into the current area west of the Ukraine. I know that Vikings, or at least folks from Norway were in the Ukraine area as well. Could be they either found this or traded for it, brought it back and then lost it. Not sure what sort of relationships the Vikings would have with the Mongols, other than to beat them to death....lol

Lol, yes they where a bit brutal.

The "magic" swords that some Vikings had, came from China. Or I should say the steel ingots came all the way from china. So I see no reason why there could not have been trading with the Mongolians.

Your right, but the Magic sword they called Ulfberth was not that magic. The Vikings found a way to heat the ingot to over 3000 degrees, that made the steel very clean. It took centuries before other found a way to do it.
