Hi, my name is Kevin (KDR13) I am new to the site and I think it is very nice of people to offer assistance on figuring out what an item is. The belt is in brand new condition in the original tin box labeled The Horstmann Uniform Co. Philadelphia. I purchased this item on Ebay and the seller stated this was from the Civil War/Indian Wars era. The belt looks like it could be fitted with sword straps but none came with it.
Thank you very much for your potential time and effort in helping me with this information quest.

That's a really cool find!

Based on my quick Google search makes me believe it's post Civil War era, probably Spanish American war period.

That looks very similar to one I dug many years ago at a CW location where there was a 2 day battle.
I was told mine was a post-war 1874 model.

That belt looks really good, almost too good. If its not a reproduction, its definitely post-civil war.
Thank you for your input. I don't think it is reproduction based on the sharp angles on the buckle. All the reproductions on E bay all the angles are rounded off. Then again, what do I know? I am the one asking the question.

Yes, stated it was new old stock that was like it was in a time capsule.
I looked up that buckle you spoke of, it is not the same as mine. That is a hook style to go in a belt hole mine is a brass clasp style. No hooks on the buckle at all.
