I just saw on Craigslist that one of these were listed for 20 bucks. Opened box, but never used. How well does this detector work? Is it a good buy? Is it worth it? I have a tesoro silver umax and a garrett gti 2500.

The circuit is the same as the BH Junior, just a different more adult-size package. Very easy to use, depth about 6 inches. A bargain at $20. They usually run about $80-90 retail, but Big Lots used to have them for about $60 (and perhaps still does).

Since you already have a Tesoro, in your situation a VLF 2.1 would probably be a "backup unit" or loaner.
