VLF = Very Low Frequency, that is where most of the modern made machines tune themselves into when you crank them up. I would take it out and start hunting with it as soon as possible, and at least find enough in modern money to make it pay for itself. If you make it that far then you will know you are a true Treasure Junkie like most of us here on the board, and you will have gained a wealth of experience that you might want to share with the rest of us.
