My trip to the mountains was cancelled today so I hooked up with Kaz. Not a bad day, got couple of sodas and medicines. Kaz found the Ewa Soda Water Co and I got the Oahu Soda & Medicine. You can tell who is the "rookie" - I'll be prepared next time. Had fun - Thanks Kaz!

Awright...Had fun today with 808beginnerdigger, the usual Waipahu hot :icon_sunny: and real dusty...at least we found a little shade and a few keepers, we bottomed out at 4 feet nice untouched rust layer, lot's of busted milk tops and one busted 2 line Oahu, odd finding that one there ??? ...aloha

Nice puka! :hello2:

Did you guys see any BIMAL bottles or shards? ???

Looks like 30's and 40's stuff to me, but I'm not too familiar with the stuff from that era :dontknow:

Glad to see you guys are still digging - and posting! :headbang:

I'm still stuck in CA, so I get my bottlin fix vicariously through your posts :notworthy:

I'll be on Oahu in mid-July, but the wife is coming too.....

This probably means no bottlin :'(

In fact, I'll be doing my best impression of a haole tourist! :hello:

Sodetraveler, we was by the river, came across one broken 2-line Oahu bimal, the rest machine stuffs 20's, digging under one tree, the place is all dug up by the pump house so we kinda went along the outskirts, same thing, real lose dirt, dusty and hot like hell :icon_sunny: good potential area though nice untouched iron layer, max around 4 feet then hit one hard clay layer, try to bust through the clay but I pretty sure we bottomed out, no one was around but could see areas that was dug recently, unfortunately the closer to the mill where had all the old stuff is all developed now...aloha Kaz

I walked the river banks one time when we got kicked out of the old mill dump. We only checked the makai side of Waipahu Street though.....no glass, no rust, no nothing!

Seems like all the good stuff is mauka ;D

We ended up digging a 9 foot deep test hole right above Waipahu Street before we finally gave up and snuck back onto the old mill lot.

The test hole was balla head, but we scored big the next couple days digging in the usual spots :laughing7:

Old Waipahu Dump is Pau

My brother went back to Waipahu to take another look at the "old dump" area....

Looks like the entire place is surrounded by a construction fence now and a huge new building has been put on the lot :o

I guess that I had better give up any lingering hopes of ever getting more sodes there :'(

Here are a couple pictures;

The first shows the whole dump area. The road on the right is Waipahu Street and has been there forever. The other road going up the hill is brand new and cuts right through the heart of the dump. There is plenty of undug dump area between that new road and the new building, but you have to dig about 8 feet down to get to it! :tongue3:

The second picture has our old 9 foot deep test hole in the foreground. We got kicked off the lot and thought we might get lucky digging on the other side of the street. We dug all day and found absolutely nothing! :dontknow:
