Today was pretty nice, so I thought I'd take the dogs for a stroll around a lake near by. I saw this double crested cormorant stretching it's wings out on this solar powered thing in the lake. Not sure what that device does, but it powers a vertical shaft that rotates slowly. I think it maybe oxygenates the lake or something? The lake is a fresh water supply for the town of Erie, Colorado. Another good sign the winters coming to a close is the painted turtle are now out of hibernation and catching some warmth from the sun.

We had four cormorants visit our pond after the hurricane hit Texas last year. It was the first time we ever seen them here. I'm hoping it was just a fluke. Those are nasty, messy birds. They are all over Lake Erie. The turtles are still hiding out and I don't blame them. We are getting more snow today. :crybaby2:
