I’ve been a member here for awhile, but never posted anything in the finds section. So I figured I’d start posting not just to show my finds ,but to say how they’ve been found in an unlikely place… January was nice here in western Pennsylvania so I took out my golden with a clean sweep and was driving through a 50 acre park close by, and decided to hit a 1/2 acre of grassy hill that I’ve passed a thousand times..I’ve never seen anyone in that area and I chose it because I just wanted to be left alone, and could care less about finding much that day..5 minutes in I had my first half cent, followed by a handful of flatbuttons.
I’ve went back ,,here and there for short hunts, and recovered dozens of flat buttons, multiple large cents,New Jersey copppers,,different types of half cents, and a 1/2 Reale yesterday.
live done research on this park and area and nothing in old maps shows anything ever there colonial related. But it sure does show in the finds, lots of iron, no modern trash on this site. I believe it was a hub more than a home by all the old coins everywhere, theres a wide variety of coins and all colonial or shortly after,,1803 being the youngest coin I’ve found so far..My user name is woodbutcher on other sites, but my real name is Pete. Im not sure why I used my real name when I created this account years back.. Here are some of my finds,I have a lot more from there but it’s pic heavy now..thanks for looking

I so envy you guys in the Eastern US! That sort of place is nonexistant here in California.
I love western Pennsylvania , especially being in this hobbie. But you guys got the gold out there, and the beaches. Little envious of that myself

Now that's a spot many of us would love to find. Congrats on all your recoveries. You are now able to change your profile name here. Just go to your profile and the option should be there. I think you just need to give a reason why and an admin will change it.

Fantastic finds! Congratulations on the great location and your recoveries! Thanks for posting and sharing.

Even less so in Oregon. We have some "Field of dreams" out here though for pull-tabs and zinc pennies.......just saying.
