I managed to get out and hunt for a while today. After attempting to hunt two fields where too many people kept showing up, I decided to go back to my trusty school field once again, which I had planned to stay away from for a little while. I have to admit it felt good to be there though.
So I commenced swinging and began picking up tons of clad. It seems like it just grows out of the ground at this spot. No matter how much you dig there's always plenty more. Same goes for the trash.
Then I got a little lucky and dug up this '44 War Nick:

It's in nice shape. Shortly thereafter and in the same spot I dug the other two, a 1939 and '54. I've been killin' the nickels lately in search of GOLD but couldn't manage to sniff any out this time.
I hit a nice 9 coin pocket spill and among it were two Canadian coins; a Dollar and a Quarter:

Then I got a nice high hit; a pretty solid 81, and dug this earring. It's marked "Italy .925" with some type of makers mark.

I'm not 100% convinced it's real just yet. It looks too shiny and just doesn't feel like silver to me. I hope I'm wrong. The fact that it's hollow may have something to do with the unusual feel. I'll have to get it checked out and be sure before it goes in the "real" pile.
Then I spent the rest of the time digging more trash and clad, an old pen and a small metal shaft of some kind with a few threads on one end. There are 7 more nickels I forgot to include in the picture.

Finally the sun began to sink and the temperature began to quickly drop so I packed it in for the day.
I have to admit, although I'm happy with the War Nick and the hunting was fun, it was a bit anticlimactic after last weekend's hunts. I think I've gotten a bit spoiled lately. It's easy to start feeling that way when you've had a nice run.
But as we all know by now, those runs come, and they go. Overall, I'm satisfied because I found a few cool things, got outside in the sun for a while, upped my battery fund a bit and even scored a little more silver.
That's about it.
Thanks for looking and HH.
