Neighbors express kielbasi smoking concerns
MAHANOY CITY — A new family meat market in the borough with plans to smoke its own
kielbasi has its neighbors raising safety concerns.
The owners of Kwapicks Market and Kielbasy Shop said a smoker has yet to be chosen, but when installed, it will meet all safety standards and codes.
William and Nancy Moore, who live next door to the 305 E. Pine St. market, took the complaint to borough council at its recent meeting.
“I have a complaint about a burner going to go in next to me, but they’re telling me it’s going to be grandfathered. This has been our family home for 55 years,” said William Moore, adding the market’s previous owner had a smoker that was removed more than 40 years ago.
