I found this coin-like object on a field where an old farm house once stood. When I first saw it I thought it was some sort of button because it looked like it had a hook at one time. It's about 1/8" thick and tapered. I plugged "WARRANTED SUPERIOR" into Google and I found out that it's actually a handsaw medallion and very collectible. Research shows mine was made between 1900 and 1917. The second pic shows how they were used.

i was once going through some trash here in montclair when i found, among other things, a table knife whose blade was stamped, "HANDLE WARRANTED". you can guess which part was missing... :P
