I paid $4.50 for a small bag of ladies watches. I saw an old Bulova in it I thought might be gold. It was ... gold plated. It is also over wound. I was about to throw them in with all the other junk watches I have when I looked closer at this one. It isn't a real expensive watch, but it is sterling and marcasite. It weighs 39 grams, so I'm not sure of the total silver weight.

Great find and easier to pop a battery in then servicing. Eclissi also does a lot of Sterling watches too.

I was looking through another bag I had bought. There was a vintage Lady Elgin in it that was 14k GF. I had a closer at this Gruen ladies watch, turns out it is 14K. I'm guessing the small diamond is real as well. It is very hard to make on the back, but says Gruen Gold 14K.

It runs and keeps good time, but not in very good condition over all.

Meh, after looking at it again, it appears to be plated. I guess I need to get the back off to be sure.

You usually don't see gold watches with the base metal backs.
