Wax treatment for relics

I have some iron relics that don't really need electrolysis, but a buddy of mine told me that they could use a hot wax bath. If anyone would chime in on what methods they use and what materials I need, that'd be great.

I use Gulf Wax. It is used for canning and is found at hardware store. I put mine in a croc pot. Drop the relics in and wait for the bubbles to stop
