Weekend Field hunt yields a 1860 Indian Head.

Got out for a bit on Saturday to hunt the hay field across the street after they started cutting it.
Not much left from all the hunting I did there last year, but I did manage to find a Indian Head.

Its pretty much toast but if you hold it at the right angle in the light, the date can be seen.
I wonder if its the pointed bust variety ???

I found many ole coppers in upstate NY just like it tho ;D
 

yeah, the copper coins I dig almost always look like that. But it's still cool... it's a coin that's also a relic :-D

I like the photo / diagram of the field. I think it's good to keep this kind of info with your finds so you can look back years later and know where you found stuff like that.
 

Nice 1860 even though it's a bit rusty :D Isn't that the first year for IH's ???
 

Fertilizer takes a tremendous toll on coins.
