Weekend finds and balloon

[HIGHSTRUNG]

Beautiful weather here in SC and got out this weekend to do a little digging. Found some relics near a plantation house that saw combat during the civil war.

As I was working a stretch of planted pines I saw something hanging on one of limbs. As I got closer I could tell it was a balloon and thought to my self that it would be neat if it had a note attached. When I got to it low and behold it did have a note attached to the string. Didn't want to tear it as it was very weathered so decided to wait until I got home. The note was written by a child for an uncle that had passed. You never know what you are going to find when out in nature. Reading the little note brought a tear to my eye I must admit.

I find those balloons all the time. I've never found one with a message. Releasing a balloon is a fun thing but it ends up trash on someone else's property. Maybe I'd feel differently if they added a message. Gary

Nice finds and cool story.
I found one years ago while deer hunting. It was from a small girl in a preschool one state away. I returned it to the giving address with a description of where when and how it was found like asked. Ten years later I received a letter from the girl who had found my letter while going through her old school stuff.
You never know what will turn up.
