2 boxes halves - both skunks
1 box nickels - 2 war nickels
$150 CWR dimes - skunks
$130 CWR halves - 15 - 40% & 1 90% Kennedy
Did go to a small antique shop yesterday & picked up a couple Morgans @ 22 bucks a piece. Nothing grand , but still below spot. 2 - 21's, 1899 & 1900. Had a bunch of halves, but they were way over priced @ 14 bucks a piece. Offered him 10 a piece for the entire lot ~ 50 coins, but no deal. HH & Please let in rain in GA. We are dry, dry, dry..Doug

Nice buy on the morgans and sweet finds on the CRW's. If we get some rain here I will ponit it north to you. Throw out a pic of the finds. Happy huntin.

$22 is better than I've seen around here. Another "we buy gold" spot opened in town. Silver finds below spot hard to find.

Hard to even scratch the dirt in WNC. Rain all around, but none for my tomatoes until today. 5 minute hard rain which won't help much. If you have any to spare, send it this way. Need wet soil to help the dirt fishing. Did find a half last week-1971. Close.

Had some gentle rain here (Just west of Murphy NC) 2 days ago, had to water the tomato plants prior to that.

How's the CRH'ing going over there? The furthest east I've travelled on road trips has been to Franklin NC. I've been to Sylva a few times in the past few years for medical appointments though.

Good score, Plus getting 2 wars in the nickel box . And a sweet deal on the Morgans.
Hope you get some Rain your way soon

Sorry for late reply to kb4iqm. Still no rain here. I get out about 1 or 2 times a week and usually head toward Asheville or Georgia. Have to combine travels with gas prices. Did find a nice silver band in Franklin last week. Local parks and schools are very slim pickings and slow to replenish this year. I prefer the beach but only get a mother-sitter 2 times a year. AS for CRH, I've known about it for many years just do it rarely. I have friends that do it in Asheville though and they don't talk. I do like to read about everyone's finds though. No competition for anyone here. Magjm

I'm back to watering the tomato plants again. Not much rain here lately, which can be bad and good. Bad for gardening, good for solar power. Despite driving a lot every week, I don't spend a whole lot on fuel. I supplement my mileage by charging the batteries in my car when I can from solar power at home.

I drive down into N Georgia fairly often. Not hearing much from tellers about others hunting until I start getting closer to Atlanta. As I get closer to Asheville NC, I start hearing from tellers about others asking for halves. Same as I get closer to Knoxville TN and Chattanooga TN. I'm slowing down on halves to see if they replenish. I'm already up to halves box skunk #19.

With the state of the economy, I would think that dirt-fishing finds would taper off in parks. Fewer people have discretionary income for visiting parks, or participaing in other recreational activities. How about the beaches at the large lakes?

Great buy on the 1899 Morgan. It is a key date.
It's worth about $100 in VG .

I've thought that about the coin/jewelry finds in parks also. May just be more hunters out there also. 10-15 years ago there weren't many in my area. Now I go to the park and see the UPS guy stop and pull out an ACE. As for lakes, last time my group got together and went to North GA. finds were few except for coins. Last couple of drought years weren't good for lake hunting and they are just starting to fill up again. However, it is still too long a trip for me these days as I can only leave my mother for 4-5 hours at the most. Lake Lure is a couple hours away. Fontana isn't far, but not much there. I do have my TVA pass though. As for rain, I spoke too soon. Line of thunderstorms hit us at 6 pm and my driveway is now a lake. It's been raining for 5 hours as I write this. Ground should be great for detecting by Saturday. My CRH friends only hit Asheville/Hendersonville. No competition for you further West than that, except for the other 1000 guys out there.
