Weird Cool Iron Thing. Please Help!

I found this in the backyard of an 1860s house. I have found a bunch of old tools there to. It look like it has a cereal number in it has a serrated edge sticking out of it. It is 8 by 3 in. Any info would be great.

I've found dozens on blades but thats the first Attachment piece that I've seen dug....................HH
