left the darn BATTERIES. By the time I had realized it, already had their bikes out. And no way you can convince a kid to run back to the house for a second to retrieve the prized batteries. No amount of begging worked on my two, so I spent the next two hours watching them go round and round in the parking lot. The sad part was that I worked them hard on going bike riding so that I could go metal detecting.

Walmart has some Rayovac batteries for $.99. Every time I'm there I grab a pack and throw them in the truck. Must be a good 25 to 30 batteries floating around in there...

I failed to mention that I had left the rechargable pack on the charger and have never used the disposable battery pack.Just one of those "blond moments :tard:" like we all have.

I always keep a spare set in the vehicle . Before I go detecting I always check to make sure I have a new
set in the console for spares . So far I haven't got caught empty handed .

I dont know how i ever hunted without my pinpointer,
I forgot it one day and it was a bummer!!!
cant imagine batterys

well I am sure your kids enjoyed you watching and paying attention to them riding

actually, they rode around laughing that I couldn't MD. I always pay attention to them and support them in their sports. We're together 24-7 except for school. It's hard to find time to have alone time. Do to medical problems I'm disabled so I don't even have work to get away to . Metal Detecting is my only release and good therapy for me.

oh man!! I bet you have plans for back up batteries NOW! I must admit I rarely leave as well prepared as most of these folks appear to. Hopefully I will think ahead after hearing this and hoping you get to get back out there with extra batteries soon!!

I just did the 2nd to last worst MD'ing goofs :tard:. The battery didn't show low enough to charge . I loaded up ,took daughter to the local park for her swim team practice, and ran over to a memorial section of the park.I had a little time before the squall line and "thunderboomers" make it over. I turned on the good ole Detector and dug up 3 peaces of trash . The very next signal I got appeared to be a pocket spill.I started digging and the darn Detector turned itself off. I powered it up long enough to see that the battery gauge showed 5.3 . How in the world it can drop from 10.2 to a 5.3 in approximately ten minutes is beyond me.It is just as well went to finish watching my daughter when the clouds opened up the flood gates . So maybe it was just some divine intervention?

gracious bud...you are having the worst of luck lately with batteries! Definitely need to start making sure you have an extra set! Glad you got out of there before the storm hit and got to see your daughter swim! Better luck next time!

Thunderboomers and dead batteries. Reminds me of the discovery of electricity.
Wasn't Ben swinging a detector at the time?
