"Well that isn't a rock!"

That's what I said to my son as the Sunray probe was singing over this thing that looked like a hunk of dirt. With one whack of the digger, the next exclamation was "Bob's going to flip!!" (BedfordBob)

Now the background.... was driving through the local town of Bedford, PA.... my two younger kids had appointments... between them I had 15 minutes. When I spotted a pile of topsoil next to the square, I told my other son (Mach II, the recent copper killer) that we needed to hit that with the Etrac. Well along the one side of it was this decent sounding signal... it turned out to be this cannonball fragment. :headbang: :hello2:

In the 1750s and 60s, this was the site of Fort Bedford.... but I never hunted the center of town as I know they would run us off... ::) :'(

So this frag is British.... a leftover from the fort days. Bob has been hunting for this a few years.... ;D

Not bad for my fifteen minutes that turned into about 5 with a phone call!

Next up for it will be an electrolysis bath....

You Dog ! I hit it hard but no Cannonball. But at least we can say DeArmitt missed it ;D

Re: "Well that isn't a rock!"

I figured for sure that you would pop out a KG II or a 8 Reale... ya know, something that would actually have some value and make me look bad for missing it.... :tongue3:

NICE shell fragment Mach 1. It's nice to see a shell fragment from another period of history. I've got a ton from the Civil War era but nice to see an older one like that come up :icon_thumleft:
