Well, the mansion didn't give up the kitchen sink.

UPDATE: New Info.

Since the universe didn't end on 12-21-12 I gave it one more day, (just in case they made a mistake ;) ). Then, today, I climbed out of the bomb shelter and went to the mansion for a couple hours. :laughing7:

Like I said, it didn't give up the sink but it did give up two of it's stoppers! Must've been a two holer!! ;) Those rich people! LOL

Here's the take:

Maybe a fence post? The thing is about 3 pounds, the top is squarish and has a groove in the end.
The top appears to be iron, the bottom? Lead?

Brass ring? With a key and groove?

The stoppers.

I just figured scrap copper when I dug it but when I got it home I saw a design.

The other side has even more designs!

This thing seems to just be an iron/rust disk. It is a bit concave so I'll throw it in for a soak to see what happens.

Three lil pennies.

And, lastly, a BIG spoon that came out from more than 14 inches down!

I didn't think much about it, kinda neat, obviously old, I'm not familiar with the maker.
But what made this my favorite find of the day? When I turned it over, after rinsing it off,
I saw this:

Anyone familiar with this spoon?

Thanks for peeking!

Yeah, nice when they're marked, huh. This one is even more interesting to me because it came from 14 inches underground! :)

That scrap of metal? I posted on the "What Is It" forum and they Taz came through, if your interested. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/326381-piece-metal-designs.html

Also, I'm thinking that the more fancy of the "stoppers" might really be a candle snuffer. Looks too ornate to be a sink/tub stopper, plus, it has a hole in it! ;)

Thanks for the response!

Merry Christmas!

I think you may be right on the flatware. Just wondering, how old. Not sure how it got to be 14 inches down! :)

Thanks for the response!

Once I uncovered the spoon part I said to myself, "What the heck? How could a spoon last that long in the ground and be that straight?!? What's this thing made of, Kryptonite!?!?" :) LOL

Also, you're right on the diverse finds at this place! One day I should post all of the bullets I've found here. They are sooooo varied! Makes me wonder what went on here! :)

Oh yeah, I'll be going back until they run me outta there. :)

Merry Christmas!!

Thanks! I like it too. I'm just tossed as to whether I should try to clean it up shiny, or leave it rough to show the age. :dontknow:

Merry Christmas!

I found one of those spoons in Wayne County NC late last year. It was on a dirt road next to a house that had stood since prior to the Civil War.

Yours is in much better shape though!

Huh! Must've been a services issue then eh? ;) I am still surprised at just how well this one is preserved! Must've been good soil huh.

Maybe there was a camp here sometime before the house? :dontknow:

Anyway, thanks!

Merry Christmas!

I'll bet one of the kids that used to live there used the spoon to dig a hole and then the Dad probably kicked it in when he was filling the hole back in.
