Went by a local school with Mastereagle tonight and we hunted for about 30 minutes after work. Actually, he just wanted to show me his new Minelab Explorer and how it barked at coins. Most of the time I wasn't listening to him, as I was swinging the XLT and listening to what it was telling me. He claimed the pea gravel lot was sterile of any metallic objects, so I headed over there as he left. I found this:

I went home after that and ate supper and then headed to a local high school as my clad count needed some work and my spirit needed redemption. I started swinging the XLT and it revealed a few coins I had left since last fall. I vacuumed a few up and had a few little surprise finds:

I thought this stuff was kinda interesting. The chrome thing is a cap to something that hangs from a chain. It is threaded inside. ???

The clear star was an eyeball find and the buckle was a football helmet snap. I have several of those from hunting this particular High School. (One may be mine from when someone knocked the crud out of me at one time or another) The dark circular object is a magnet. I have found 3 or 4 of them in the last few months. Wierd :P

That looks just like the pile I pull out of my pockets when I hunt the schools around here! Good hunt. Just goes to show, it's not just what you swing, it's knowing the machine.

First of all my Explorer Sings it does not bark!
Second of all I never said the Pea gravel was sterille of any metal objects I in fact said "I have only found three pennies and a lot of junk in the gravel."
Third I distincly remember saying right before I left that my Deleon does not work well around playground equipment and that you are much better at finding things near the stuff with you XLT than I am with my machine. Your machine is excellent at this and you have become very good with your techinique since you have found several rings around playground equipment. When I get around playground equipment with Ponce all I usually find is playgound equipment.

Fourth the reason you went to hunt was because my clad count is getting close to catching up to yours, at least it was until lastnight, but you know as well as I that all though my numbers are good the value is not so much.

The chrome thing is from a laser pointer or small flashlight, I agree with parrothead. The clear star is from the pony tail holder you usually wear and breaking it and then "claiming" to find it isn't fair. Oh wait a minute you don't have any hair for a pony tail holder. My bad!!!!!! The little star is very familar and if I am not mistaken is a star off a miliatry type ribbon or badge. I remember seeing many of these on dress uniforms from campaign ribbons and other awards.

And I was VERY sad that I couldn't hunt with you last night but as you know I am currently sleeping on the floor and may progress to the couch by the weekend since buying the Explorer. If I am lucky I may end up sleeping in my bed by the end of the month. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D

That brass thing looks like the end to a laser pointer that I used to have on my key chain.

parrothead,
I believe you are right. I had not thought of that. Actually, though, the chrome looking cap is actually plastic, and the chain is metal. Thanks for your post.

First off, your Explorer does bark! I believe it sounds like a Pekineese.
Secondly, I believe what you said was:
"I will give you three pennies for the junk you find in the gravel." We both know that meant zipper pulls.
Thirdly, yes I have found several rings around playground equipment. When I get around playground equipment with my XLT it acts up too. (Do you know that Deleon well enough to call it by it's first name of Ponce??) ???
Fourth you will never catch my clad count because you don't get to go as much as me. ;D

The clear star is not from the pony tail holder I usually wear!! I figured it was something your daughter threw at you when you were detecting and she was wanting to go home! The little star is familiar to you because of all your brushes with the law while metal detecting!

I don't think you have to worry about making it off the couch since your Explorer purchase. Lets face it, if you are lucky your wife won't kill you in your sleep some day. Looking forward to our next hunt. See ya jerk. :-X :-X :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D
