went poaching yesterday (update)

aa battery kept posting all the nice silver coins from the old Fresno air base. So I was over there yesterday and gave the place a try. aa said there wasn't much to find. He has worked the place over real good, but still got a few keepers (7 wheats and a dog tag). And it was nice to meet aa in person.

Wheats were, 2-1918, 3-1935,1-1938 and one 1942.

Started looking into finding him or his family, any help would be nice.

Looks like he was born in 1924 and died in Buffalo, Erie, NY on 11/20/1994. If you go into RootsWeb.com and go to the Social Security Death Records database that is linked there, you'll see several Walkowiaks - but this one seemed to fit the specifics of the dogtag. I hope you can find his surviving loved ones. Nice finds!

PS There is an Erie County (New York) Genealogy society, so they may very well be able to help you track down his spouse or children, if he had any. Try sending an email with a brief story and photo of the dogtags to: nygwsc@yahoo.com

Turned some copper into silver

Went to the club meeting last night and entered one of the 1918 penies in the coin catagory of find of the month and wone this nice silver round. So I got some silvr aftr all aa.
