These a some I took from my phone, as I was at a Silver mine in the San Juan mountains yesterday. Coming home I went up the Grand Valley and headed east I70 and saw smoke from the fire they're fighting just north east if Grand Junction. At Glenwood Springs the traffic came to stand still. It was late and I just didn't feel like pumping my clutch and creeping along for the next 10 miles though the canyon, so when I came to the exit for Glenwood, I jumped off and headed to Aspen. I thought it be less of a mess all the way to the west entrance to Independence pass, but once I got to 10 mines out of Glenwood it was like everyone disappeared. I got though Aspen in no time and it was dang near a ghost town. I made it to the top of Independence pass at around 8:30 pm. Saw some bighorn sheep licking up some mineral salt off some rocks at the first switch back going down the eastside. Could only get a shot of them with my headlights on them.

Good pics. Wow, I figured Aspen would be overrun. I know we are.

It was strange. There was an uppity outdoor eatery with a lot of the beautiful folks at every dinning table, but I blew through town, with the exception of stopping to let this cheerful looking pretty gal cross the road on her pink cruiser bike. She thanked me with a pretty smile. I did head over on cottonwood, but to much haze for any nice pictures.... Gunnison and hwy 50 had a lot of tourist in the area and the motel I stayed in Montrose filled up to the stage of a lite-up No Vacancy sign, but I70 heading both ways on Wednesday was insane. Westbound west of Glenwood had to deal with a brush fire right off the shoulder and there were like 10 fire trucks with a big rig water tanker and helicopter dropping buckets of water right over your head. Taking independence was a lucky move, even though i didn't get home till 1:am. They also had a red light at the Johnson tunnel, which took some time to go green. Redeye road work going on up there.

I know. I was coming back through town at about one pm and hungry. Thought about eating in Ouray and said forget it. I stopped at Dennys in Montrose. because it's a great place for old folks and free of hipsters where you can sit down right away and eat with other quiet old folks.
