Hello All,

I'm pretty new to metal detecting, and really enjoy reading the different forums. I posted this on another forum, but nobody had a definitive answer. Does anyone know what this is? It came from an 1800s Missouri farm home site that is now a farm field. I'm not sure when it quit being used.

The coins are for size reference. Any ideas on what the item with the star on it is? It came from the same field. The compact and coins came from a different place.

I think you are right. The pictures help. Do you think the symbol is just decorative? Thank you for the response. I wish I knew what the token/coin thing was.
