Detector(s) used
Minelab Sovereign,Ace 250,White's DFX, custom made waterproof detector
I was out metal detecting a house that was built in 1901 but had caught fire recently.I was detecting a corner of the house and got a high 90's reading on my eagle II sl.I dug down about a foot and found a silver tube or hose looking thing. It was really shiny like stainless steel with no rust.It kinda looked like the dryer vent type of pipe.Does anyone know why this would be buried there??I know very little about home construction and don't want to damage something and get into trouble.I'm afraid to dig anymore around it for fear of putting a hole into it.From the part I had undug..it was about a foot long give or take.Like I said it looks just like dryer vent pipe.

if you haven't covered it up, pictures would help a LOT!!!!

Is it chrome, is it stainless?...lot of what-ifs? without a pic...

I dug something similar up against the foundation of a 1905 house. I was as perplexed as you as to what it was. After many consultations with elderly folks in the area we came to the conclusion that it was the ground rod/pipe for a lightning rod that was long gone from the house.

Well I will have to go back and dig it back up and take some pics...give me a day or so.
