I was out detecting today in a civil war campsite and found this little thing Has anyone seen anything like this before? It kindof looks like a button to me. Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like some type of 'closure snap,' and judging by the motif on the front, it could have been a snap closure on a ladies purse or overalls. Is there writing on the round area of the back? Interesting find, Breezie
