Half Dollars Would By far have the most Keepers.

I Would Say it Would Go.

HAppy Hunting,

I agree with coincollector101 on the order. I think cent and nickels are fairly equal in chance to find keepers, but quarters definitely at the bottom.

Here are my keeper percentages since I've started in March:

Nickels - 1.43%
Pennies - 0.37%
Dimes - 0.29%
Quarters - 0.00%
Halves - rarely searched

Depends on your definition of keepers.

If keepers are as follows:

pennies: wheats or earlier and proofs
nickels: pre-1960 and proofs
dimes: pre-1965 and proofs
quarters: pre-1965 and proofs
Halves: pre-1971 and proofs (and for some people NIFC)
Dollars: Eisenhower or earlier, or on the later stuff only proofs (and for some people NIFC)

Note: I didn't list error coins since there is a broad spectrum of what is searched and kept.

If I exclude the optional NIFC that not everyone keeps, I would rank them as follows:

Dollars: 100% (Ikes and earlier) lost all data on small dollars when hard drive crashed a few months ago.
nickels: 1.289%
halves: 0.948% (1.076% with NIFC)
pennies: 0.340%
dimes: 0.047%
quarters: 0.015%
