GF - LOL!

I swear it's not an April Fools joke. I promise it's not. This is real. It's a 1936 two headed buffalo nickel.

After what you observed, I looked at the coin again and there is indeed the same indentation under the three on both sides of the coin. I don't have a magnifying glass or a loupe to view it any closer, but it's not a letter or anything - it's an indentation.

I don't know what to tell you. I bought it from an old man at the flea market this afternoon.

Thanks,

:)

The "indentation" is an F... the designer's initials for Buffalo Nickel designer James Fraser. It appears on all Buffalo nickels.

Thanks for the info desecrater!

That was the first thing I said out loud - is that a "P" or and "F"?, but I wasn't sure. I can't see like I use to and it's so tiny! I'm getting a free jewelers loupe but not until next weekend.

The sunlight went away and I can't get a good pic of it. Will try again tomorrow.

The only Buffaloes of value that I know about are the 3 leg 37d & the 1918/7, but I can't find any info on other anomalies, counterfeits, etc. ???

Magic or trick coin. My buddy found a 2 tailed wheat penny today while detecting. It split apart after he dug it. Too weird.

The only value that coin will bring is if you take it to a bar and flip for drinks - always calling heads, of course. It's a magician's coin or liar's coin. Is it hollow?

Exactly as Treasure Tales said, no value except as a novelty. It is made from two coins. A regular buffalo nickel would be worth more.

A machinist can make one of those, and they are hard to identify unless you know what to look for.

I saw a show on TV that showed how a counterfeit Sac dollar is made.

Nice coin anyway.

It's not hollow sounding, but it IS made from two coins! The neighbor's kid had a magnifying glass and you can see a small place on the side where there is a seam. A pretty good fake!

I still like it! :) I'll get my money's worth in fun!
Now - I just have to find that regular Buffalo so I can get free drinks all summer!

Thanks everyone for your help!

P.S. So how much did you pay?
