I swear it's not an April Fools joke. I promise it's not. This is real. It's a 1936 two headed buffalo nickel.
After what you observed, I looked at the coin again and there is indeed the same indentation under the three on both sides of the coin. I don't have a magnifying glass or a loupe to view it any closer, but it's not a letter or anything - it's an indentation.
I don't know what to tell you. I bought it from an old man at the flea market this afternoon.
That was the first thing I said out loud - is that a "P" or and "F"?, but I wasn't sure. I can't see like I use to and it's so tiny! I'm getting a free jewelers loupe but not until next weekend.
The sunlight went away and I can't get a good pic of it. Will try again tomorrow.
The only Buffaloes of value that I know about are the 3 leg 37d & the 1918/7, but I can't find any info on other anomalies, counterfeits, etc.
The only value that coin will bring is if you take it to a bar and flip for drinks - always calling heads, of course. It's a magician's coin or liar's coin. Is it hollow?
It's not hollow sounding, but it IS made from two coins! The neighbor's kid had a magnifying glass and you can see a small place on the side where there is a seam. A pretty good fake!
I still like it! I'll get my money's worth in fun!
Now - I just have to find that regular Buffalo so I can get free drinks all summer!
