i found this item at a site last weekend hunting with Bergie, Earthworks and Goingdown. what do you think ........sword scabbard tip? and if so, new or old??

It's a sword drag, a knife sheath tip with finial, or a bayonet scabbord tip with finial... Excellent!

It's like a tip / covering / sheath for a sword / knife / frog sticker... a blade of some sorts. Nice find there too.
