I picked up this keene sluice with attached crashbox and a 2" suction dredge nozzle on OfferUp for $200. I cannot find anything that looks exactly like it on Keenes website. It looks brand new with only signs of storage. The sluice is 34" long. Best I can tell is it looks like the top sluice of a highbanker setup? Or could this be used in a dredge? I'm pretty sure I got a good deal. But what should my plans be for this? 20180531_162911.webp20180603_104213.webp

That is a old school dredge box. I have the same one and love it. Don't look like it's ever been used. Good score

here's one I had, siting on an inner tube

Looks like I did pretty good. What should i line the bottom with? Under the riffles...
Not that I'm going to dredge in Ca or anything.....

What is the purpose of the hole in the downstream side top of the crashbox? Looks like a flapper valve of some sort

The flapper on the crash box is for running a rod into the suction line to break up plugs.

the one I had just had outdoor carpet under the riffles and a 10" x 10" piece of miners moss
with some expanded metal held in place when the punch plate was screwed on,
I had a long piece of PVC to go in the plug up hole, instead of a flap it had a boat drain plug.

What's the width of the box? It looks like a 2-1/2" crash box sluice. I would just buy some miners moss for under the riffles and use it as is. 10" is a 2" keene dredge, 12" is a 2-1/2".

My 2 1/2 keene innertube dredge had a 10" box.
