So I just stumbled across these coins that I've had for awhile. I've honestly never really knew exactly what they are. Would anyone have some "schooling" for me? As far as I'm concerned, I have a couple paper weights, unless these are actually worth something? I have no idea!

are they copper or silver. likely fake Spanish "cobs" worth SQUAT. need weight and size

The weights are: 20.63grams, 21.25grams, and 5.73 grams. Not sure if they are copper or silver? Im going to attach pictures of how I mic'ed them.

Never thought I'd use my digital calipers and scale for something other than reloading 9MM :laughing7:

Because cobs come in all shapes and sizes, they are categorized by weight (among other criteria). An 8 reales coin should weigh about 27 grams.
No two cobs are identical since they were each cut by hand with shears to the proper weight. The word 'COPY' might be showing on the coin to the right; a rather obvious giveaway if true.
Don....
PS: Welcome to Treasurenet !!

Yup, the small one on the right looks like it says "copy" on it. If you got them at the same time, it's not looking good for the other one either!

Thanks guys! I did in fact find "COPY" printed on the little one. Never noticed that before. I would guess the other two are probably fakes too. Funny story though, I did get these all together. I run a commercial swimming pool in the summer months for a housing development and apartment complex. Around 300 units use this facility. I actually found these at the bottom of the pool one day while cleaning. No one claimed them after a whole summer so I just threw them in my file cabinet and ran across them today while looking for business expenses for tax time! Probably safe to guess the other two are fakes too!

Probably, but, it never hurts to test them.
