Thanks alot, I just checked out the site. B

It is a great coil, sees really wide and deep. I love using it at the beach, I am able to cover a lot more area quicker, and I am getting targets that are deep.

I am strongly considering putting one on my back up Excal to use in the water when the surf is calm. I could also use it in knee deep water with out worrying about a stumble like I do with my Sovereign now.

After just spending $789 for my detector with 10 and 8" coils, it is going to be rough to spend 200+ for another coil anytime soon, but I will put that on the back burner for now. Thanks alot for the info! Brya

I had a 15-inch WOT and don't let people kid you by saying they're not deep. I sold mine because I got sick of digging 30 inches or more for pieces of tin or scrap copper. We have lots of gravel in our soil and digging ain't fun.

But don't use it in super trashy locations. The WOT is an open beach and plowed field hunters dream come true.

I agree But would add Heavily Hunted areas.

In Trashy areas, after getting a signal in Disc.
you'll go Nutz when you switch to all Metal & see how
many Objects are under the coil at the same time.

Great information, thanks!

so if im reading this right there are the 8,10,5x10,WOT-S in coil sizes
the WOT is a DD for the sov and its waterproof, im guessing
and do the studs here using it(sov) use a meter?

just to be accurate, many manufacturers have coils that are bigger than 10 inches and are commonly referred to as WOT as in way over top sized. ;D

With the 15in WOT, I never saw any increase in depth over the stock coil (with the ExpII). It does cover alot of ground though. Save your money, unless you are hunting open terrain

Thanks for the info

Yes I have heard many stories that the WOT is only good for getting extra Coverage
per swing on the Explorer.

If they refer to theirs as WOT they are Stealing the name,

Anytime you use a wider diameter coil you're going to get greater depth. But as a trade off the coil becomes less sensitive to tiny-small objects.

When I ran the 15 inch WOT on my GT I dug pieces of pipe and the like that my stock 10 inch Tornado couldn't see. Since old deep coins are scarce here I didn't have much opportunity to compare in that area.

Sounds like the ig WOT coil would be great on my GT in some of the heavily hunted CW fields once they are plowed! Bryan

Post a WTB message on the Minelab Forum and you may pick up a mint 15-inch WOT for $130-$150 postpaid. That's what I did and mine came with a lower shaft.

That way if you don't like it you won't lose when you resell.

I only owned and used the 15-inch WOT. I never had the meter for my GT. I went by the tones.

I use the 15 inch WOT on my Sov GT and love it. It is the only coil I use on the beach when water is too rough to hunt in, it covers a lot of area quickly.

I have also been using it hunting the parks while my Whites 6000 XL Pro is in the shop having a complete check over as the warranty expires soon. It works good in the parks, you just have to remember sometimes it may have several targets under the coil at the same time when it seems hard to pinpoint, I have to adjust the pinpointing as I locate them.
