Frame and hinge from an old double image picture frame.

Yep... Villagenut's ID is confirmed by the 45-degree angle at both ends of the piece, which are where it joined the 45-degree angle on the top and bottom of the hinged brass photo-frame. The construction is similar to a storm-door window's aluminum frame, which of course lacks the hinges.
