I'm new to metal detecting, love it, and love reading the posts here. For as long as I can remember my dad was into metal detecting and mining, and sleucing (i think that's the right term), so I've always been interested.
I've been out four times, and only to the beaches here in Florida. I have one good find, an 1889 Morgan, which my boyfriend is ecstatic about (he collects coins). I think he gets it now - lol
Anyway, I dug this thing up on Sunday, up in the dry sand, and I'm not really sure what it is. It looks like it might have been bent up by one of the tractors in the beach restoration projects, but oh well, I found it and it's mine :laughing7:
A doorknob maybe? And can anyone tell from looking at it, what it might be made of?
Happy hunting -Jess

Welcome to Tnet from the UK :hello:

Forgot its Brass. (maybe 1930s-40s)

Brass knob/latch. From a boat hatch?

Welcome to Treasurenet!

Thanks guys, I was kind of thinking it might be a door knob or latch, but didn't think about a boat. A boat makes sense - there isn't a "could've had a V-8" smiley, or i would insert it right here.

Lol, Crusader, he's gonna have to earn those coins, if he wants 'em ;D
