I found this about 6-7 inches down in an area that has been populated since the early 1800's. It appears to be made of copper with a silver coating. I originally thought it was an old shot glass, but the more I look at it the more confused I am. Can anyone help me identify this object?? It's definitely hand made.

Could this be a thimble?

No I don't think so. It's too big to be a thimble. It's almost the size of a shot glass.

DCMatt: thanks for the good suggestion but the bottom of the object is solid and doesn't appear to have broken off of anything. Good idea though.

What year does that riding flask date too?? That's a very good possibility! Thanks I'm gonna look into it.

The bottom is smaller then the top and it looks like a tin shot glass. I know the picture is hard to tell but it has a small rim on the bottom. I'm convinced that it is a shot glass. Is that possible from that time period??
