what is this all metal bodied rock

I got this from my gramps when he passed away it's really heavy about 5 pounds

the magnet sticks to it but metal does not stick to it

Sure looks like nickel but too smooth for a natural chunk imho.
Nickel as a refined product?.
Not sure if nickel will stick to a magnet or not.
If it is nickel it's worth a bit I think.
