Don''t know what it is - but I see a lot of ''tounge'' ideas in the making

I think it's the tongue part of a tongue and groove? ;)
The tinmans tongue?
Another piece off Lorena Bobbits husband?

Looks a little like the head of an old golf club. Is it solid or hollow?

Could be! It was found by an old rail crossing. Open it up and see if it's threaded on the inside.

What's the size? Looks like the one end comes to an abrupt end like it's been cut.
Depending on the size, looks like a utensil (spoon, fork) thats been cut in half. Grooves may just be the design.
