Hello. I live in a coastal town just north of Plymouth MA. It's an old ship building port on the Cape Cod Bay. I find all kinds of mysterious brass, iron, steel stuff stuck in the mud and on beaches. One particular favorite spot is near an old ship launch. Here are a couple from this week. Could use a little help with the long pin...its 10" and 6.5 oz. Pretty sure the other is a quartz point arrowhead...but how old!

1st - I noticed this is your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Campbell! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Massachusetts for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

2nd - You might consider posting your "pin" on the What Is It? Forum...

length would suggest a 19th century hairpin, but not the weight. GREAT quartz point though.

projectilepoints.net database should lead you to an ID on the quartz

No help with ID but congrats on your finds

Tine off a clam rake?

is that long enough to be a lighting rod??or a grounding sake.
