What is this? Whats the age on it? Found this metal detecting in the site of an army air field. Training practice base area. And base. Is it related to that or the place? I scraped it a little bit while diggin for it : ( you can probably see now what type of metal is it : ) can you tell me what type of metal is it? It was 6 inches deep.

I can view 95% of everyone's photos except your's it seems where I have to turn up the brightness on the 27" monitor to a blinding level to see a ruler in perfect clarity and a find that is usually fuzzy.
Get out of the dark basement/closet into some natural light then photo, or get a bigger light bulb.
Your item is brass.

It does not move the top part. It was formed like that. Your does moves mine was molded not to move i guess.

Look at "THE PHOTO" Your item is the slide that moves back and forth-missing is the barrel and swivel.
