What Is This??

I found this today and am hoping someone knows what it is. It is ¾” diameter and about 1” long, it weighs about 2 ½ ounces. It looks like lead where I have cleaned some of it.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Re: What Is This??

I think it's the end of a shotgun shell with the lead stuffed back inside it.

I don't think so unless it was somehow melted because it's all one solid piece.

Do people make their own shotgun slug rounds?

Re: What Is This??

You could cast your own slugs but it wouldn't be cost effective. You could buy a box of commercial ones cheaper than you could buy the components and cast some. What does it look like from the side? It kinda' looks like a cleaner slug for one of the old muzzle loading rifles? Monty

Monty, it is totally round but top side is a little slanted on one side at the very top then it goes back to being the same size all the way around. I will search about the muzzle loader cleaners. Thanks!

From the angles of the pictures it looks like there is a deep ridge around a flat bottom. If that is the case it may be a cleaner bullet. Monty
