What is this

Need help Found this spike thought at first maybe a railroad spike but the hole in the end has me confused. It’s about a foot long and looks square but at the end with the hole it is more round. The hole is about 1 inch deep. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

its iron and it was found in South Carolina on a island near Charleston
