I found this while surfing the internet:
What is a half an ounce of 14Kt. Gold valued at?
14kt. gold is .585 gold. You get that number by dividing 14 by 24, by the way. 14kt is 14/24 gold. Look in the paper or online and get today's gold price, which is for 24kt. Multiply that by .585 to get the price for 14kt., and then by half for 1/2 ounce. Example: Gold spot is $1000, times .585 equals $585, divided by half equals $292.50 for 1/2 ounce of 14kt. You need to do it with today's spot price, though, which changes every day. If it's 18kt you do the same thing, but with .75 instead of .585.
This is good to know if you ever decide to sell your scrap gold.
