u guessed it . eliminate the paper dollar.

just think how much more fun we could all be having if a clad dollar were.

able to be found for every 6 to 10 quarters dug.

with all the fresh money the govt has printed our clad will soon be worth less

if not worthless. think 5 dollar value menu at ur local fast food joint.

its proven this would save the govt a ton.

but so far never happen due to fat cats that provide the paper for dollar
bills. and an army of people who work printing shipping and even destroying one dollar bills.

this did happen in canada.is proof that it can happen here.

canadian detectorists dont talk very loud about finding the 1 and 2 dollar coins.

prob to avoid an army of stateside vacationers swarming to their hunting sites.

but u can bet many are found.


i sure would like to start a crusade. the coins have already been minted.


we seem to be able to rally somewhat as a group when our detecting rights are threatened.

how can we be soooo naive as a group when the heart of the value of what we find is about to be cut dramatically.?

I'm completely with you on this, but alas...
I do not think the American people have the heart to do what common sense tells us is the best
economically.
I lived in Spain for 4 years back in 1992 -1996 and I discovered that most countries
have basically gone over to hard coins for currency over paper money.
When I was there, the smallest paper was a $10 note, with coins for $5 and $2 and $1 and .50 & .25 & .5 & .01 with the little one of no real value,
Used only in speculating, as every thing is rounded up or down to the nearest .5

I could spend a day on the beach there and come away with $30 - $40 on a good day, in only coins.
We hit several beaches that yielded a record (for us) 12 of the $5 coins and 115 of the $1 coins.

These coins had been in circulation for at least 10 years.
This was back when Spain used Pesetas, Now all of Europe uses EUROS..
Which is basically the same with lots of coins and little paper..

We've had the dollar coin in effect here sine 87? and the 2 dollar coin since 94-95... something like that...

I can assure you that they get lost alllll the time. Come on up for a vacation!
