An appraiser told me it was Victorian. Possibly from the 30-40's. But, Victorian is older than that🤔 anybody know where I can get a legitimate appraisal without having to pay very much?

If anyone has told you that's 'Victorian' (in either actual age or copied style) they're severely mistaken. It's a modern to vintage piece.

The upholstery is supported by what are known as 'sinuous springs' and would put the likely date not earlier than the 1950s and more likely 1960s or later. Springs like that are also a sign of low quality furniture, having found favour with makers because they're much cheaper to make and fit than traditional coiled springs.

There's no collector value in what you have, so it's only value would be as a functional piece of furniture if it's in good condition, and someone wants it. Even then, I'm sure it wouldn't reach a three-figure value in dollars. Maybe $50. Let's be honest, it's not a very attractive thing.

1970s style, construction, and hardware. Since it's a style not considered collectable today the value is very minimal. In the NY, NJ area similar chairs sell at auction for $10-$30. Dealers would price it in their shop for just under $100 and hope someone offers them half.

Possibly someone named Victoria once owned it; around 1972. I can’t imagine it bringing much. Maybe $25 unless you find a grandma with a fond memory. You never know what someone may offer. Best wishes🍀
