Nothing special just a man's gold ring, an Indian head 1895, military buttons, bullets, rimfire shell, Old RR tag AT&SF and other items. Just a lazy old Sunday.

There were many talented detectorists on CTHII but I too must admit, TEXAS connection is the best I've seen in action. Burdie and I went down to his homestead last summer and he took us to one of his hotspots. When we left Burdie and I were talking and we just found junk, or junque I believe is the correct term on tnet. TEXAN connection got us to help him carry all the neat things he found. The man is a digging machine! Cudos! M nty

Ya'll are to nice its just Luck, and climbing around in the spots most folks wont swing a coil, The ring yesterday that was shear Luck It was right out in the open we were ALL all over it saturday, I just got my coil on top of it.
That RR Tag Brandon got, he had to walk along way for it. It was clear on the other side of the field.
I dident get to see the buttons I'll try to post some close ups of my finds later, I hope to see some close ups of yalls

Where that ring was found looks just like the spot I had a signal and asked Ridgerunner to come over and check it out with his dfx.He did and said it was jumpin' around a bit and he personally would not dig it!Well,who am I to argue with that kind of talent? Of course,I didn't dig it.Thanks RR.

We couldn't have gone back if we wanted to since the Ark City Police and ALL the housekeeping staff was required to get you out of bed and out of the room Sunday at NOON!

I did really want to go back but the wife and little guy had been so good and had already sacrificed a day for me to detect and I thought it only fair to go ahead and get them back to the real world they are used to being in. So I am very sorry I missed you all on Sunday but there's always next time!!!

TC,gunsmoke says you probably melted down those dollar coins you threw in that hole he was digging while he was at lunch,to make that ring.BTW,one of those coins got buried back up in that hole.Some day maybe someone will find it if they dig deep enough.

Got my pics together. I belive those initials on the GOLD ring are WH (found sunday am). Any ides on age? The only other marking is a 4 So Im guesing early 1900's or B-4 as there is no Carat weight??
The Brass ring was found friday Morning at another spot in Caldwell as well as the 1919 s penny. The flower button was also found sun AM.

This second one is my other bullet I dug from the far end of the field... right next to my second buckle, and not too far off from the Railroad (luggage?) Tag.

I did a little research on your ring.....seems there was the city marshall of caldwell named William Horseman in 1880......On the evening of June 18,1880, a drunken Flatt made his rounds in a number of Caldwell saloons, voicing his complaints to anyone who would listen. Somewhere along the line, he ran into Frank Hunt and the two argued until Hunt was finally able to persuade Flatt to go home about 1:00 o'clock in the morning. But Flatt wouldn't make it. On his way, he was ambushed and died in the street with a bullet in the back of his skull.

Mayor Mike Meagher, and police officers William Horseman, Frank Hunt, James Johnson, and Dan
Jones for the murder were soon arrested by Sumner County Sheriff, Joe Thralls. Although all of the men were bound over for trial, only William Horseman was tried and a year later acquitted.........

SO ........I am positive thats your man!!!!! And through research I found out his ancestors were indeed Vikings

George Flatt....1879 - lawman in Caldwell, Kansas, and also operated an elegant saloon with William Horseman.
June 19, 1880 - Flatt became drunk and disorderly himself and made trouble with Frank Hunt. Flatt was persuaded to go home, but instead stopped at Louis Segerman's resteraunt, as he approached the saloon he was shot at the base of the skull severing his spine. His killers never brought to justice but many suspected Frank Hunt and William Horseman.


... Barbara E. JOHNSON & her husband, William A. HORSEMAN. They md in Caldwell Co Missouri in 1868. and were in the 1870 Caldwell Co Missouri census with one child Arthur b. March 1870.

TC,did you put that groove in the edge of the ring?Looks pretty smooth.The ring might very well be that old,that doesn't mean that it was lost at that time.Someone else may have come into possession of it and lost it at a later date?Who knows

1880 AT&SF Railroad reaches northern border of Indian Territory at Caldwell, Kansas
D&RG = Denver & Rio Grande (3' narrow gauge)
ATSF = Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe RR
RGW = Rio Grande Western (3' gauge)

In case it's too hard to read, the tag says,

DEN.&RIOG.RV.
----AND----
A.T.&S.F.(P.?)R.R
5098
I'm not sure what the "Rv" is after the RioG?
